MARAGA The CJ Says; “When we sat down to render our judgement on the presidential petition,we made ourselves very clear. We advised the IEBC to ensure that the repeat poll be conducted in a manner that the electoral principles enshrined in our constitution are STRICTLY adhered to. I’m still not convinced that the Chebukati-led team is making any attempt(s) to this effect. I don’t know how the system operates but I’m afraid – the same fate which befell the last petition, is likely to befall [this] future one. If election shall not have been conducted with the 60 days, we shall issue another directive. I also do not encourage the current killings that are being perpetuated by the police. The judiciary is making strict follow-up to bring those culpable to book. I call upon members of the public to help us in this cause by reporting any incidents of police brutality. We’re determined not to leave any stone unturned.” D. Maraga Chief Justice.
