Remembering Amelia Boynton Robinson–the civil rights legend and freedom fighter passed away today at the age of 104. She was the first African-American woman and the first female Democratic candidate to run for a seat in Congress from Alabama. She played a significant role in 1965’s ‘Bloody Sunday’, among those attacked by State Troopers while crossing Edmund Pettus Bridge while marching for voting rights in Selma, AL. Earlier this year, she was invited to the State of the Union address.
